I have found that useing
*********TECHNU************
brand lotion,as soon as possible after contact with Poison-(anything) ivy,oak,sumac etc..
Helps Greatly.
also, if you dont have a chain store or
pharmacy near enough try some ordinary
Laundry DETERGENT(not soap..DETERGENT) it will help get the urushiol oils
off of you. at least much more of it than Ordinary Soap, (wich is not very effective for poison ivy oils/urushiol)
after using these then move on to calamine or whatever you have available
I also recomend BENADRYL (capsules) preferably. If you want to you can break open one of the Benadryl capsules
and mix it on a plate or similar
non-absorbant flat surfaced object
(use a spoon)with a bit of Hydrocortisone cream, then apply that before sleep to avoid scratching+spreading rash while sleeping , that should temporarily help releive the obsesive need to sratch. taking benadryl orally will also help greatly and WILL make you drowsy so that is a good idea at bedtime too. I am crazy and have been known to take a little more than the recomended dosage at bedtime to ensure a good sleep,
BUT USE YOUR COMMON SENSE !
a LITTLE more means only a LITTLE MORE ! not 6 or 7 or 10 or 12 !unless you want to wake up dead, do NOT exeed the recomended dosage for your weight by more than 1 or so capsules !
